Well color me surprised. Once upon a time Buckingham Fountain was on all the wee hours of the night. So I planned, and planned. I knew I wasn’t going to catch the light show but I just wanted the fountain for the first trip. Turns out for years now they shut it down at night.
You can plan a trip all you want, but when you miss a critical detail don’t let it derail you. I ended up taking several halfway decent night shots of the city, watching the sunrise over the lake and then made it over to the Bean (properly known as Cloud Gate) before the crowds showed up. All in all I call it a win.
