I love old cemetaries and memorials also. I just find them peaceful and the history is so amazing. The oldest I have seen was in Victoria, Canada. A sea captain, and some of his children. Makes you wonder about their story. Perhaps an illness, what must that have been like. What happend to the rest of the family. Intriguing.

I’ve seen some pretty amazing things in cemeteries. So far my favorite epitaph ever is “A Teacher”, found in my home town’s cemetery which boasts the dubious honor of having the remains of a soldier from every war America has been from the Revolution to present day.

In the cemetery this was taken there is also an entire order of monks, every few years there is a new name plate on the ground at the foot of the main memorial.

awesome – love the ominous grey sky and black tree in the background and the fact that the statue is of a child gives it a more chilling appeal.
